VTPESC1

Volunteers with a sufficient level of Spanish are welcome for a minimum of 1 week.

This is an after-school project for poor young children a little outside Cusco. The goal of the project is to allow the children to get a head start with more agricultural knowledge and didactic games. The project has its own organic garden with plants such as onions and cabbage cultivated here. The children are very happy to come to this project and spend their time creatively, occasionally also making some bracelets and necklaces. The project is open for children from Tuesday to Friday from 15:00 to 18:00, while on Monday preparations for the whole week's work are made from 09:00 to 12:00.

About 16 to 20 children come every day. Their parents are often poor and do not offer them education on a regular basis. They are very glad to see volunteers come. The project does not have many resources and it is housed in a very small space with no electricity, which forces it to close early.

If you are to choose this project, it is useful to think in advance of a few activities you would like to do with the children. Theater, dance, sports, music are just some ideas. You can create as many workshops as you want, but it is recommended that you bring with you any special material.

A school for the young, it is located in the vicinity of a government orphanage and receives children aged 3 to 5 years old. Children from the orphanage and from surrounding areas come here until they are ready to go to other schools.

Volunteers are needed to assist the teachers, and to teach personal hygiene to the children. You can also help the children learn English and help the caretakers during meal time as well as lead activities such as games and sports. The volunteer work takes place only in the morning, and students of education and pedagogy are welcome to come here and train.

VTPESC3

Volunteers with a sufficient level of Spanish are welcome for a minimum of 1 week.

Preference is given to volunteers willing to stay longer.

This is a project in San Jeronimo, just outside Cusco, it provides after-school care to about 60 children from 15:00 to 18:00 every day. The children do their homework, receive English lessons and participate in workshops and activities such as sports, arts and crafts and games. The Peruvian staff also work on a voluntary basis and there are not enough volunteers to lead activities or to teach English. The project has little or no financial resources, and if you want to create new activities you need to bring and donate materials.

This volunteering opportunity is only open to qualified students of social studies that wish to practice their knowledge in a real-world environment.
